Live, Love, Laugh

Live, Love, Laugh. It’s common to see this adage everywhere. It’s in a lot of signage. The thought is simple but it holds great meaning to me. It is a reminder. It is an optimistic answer when life throws some stressful days and sleepless nights. I have added my personal meaning to this expression.

LIVE {simply}. Spend time with those who mean the most to you. Just enough food on the table. A place to sleep. Conversations that are meaningful. The only way to live is to be mindful of now. To enjoy what you have now. To experience what happens now.

That simple. We only make life complicated as we want it to be.

LOVE {deeply}. To know that family is God’s gift to you. That we are each other’s gift. Love while you can, when you can, however you can. Don’t love half-heartedly. Love much because it is what makes life-worth-living.

That deep. We love because He first loved us.

LAUGH {like a hyena}. People go far and wide in pursuit of happiness. One won’t find happiness in a luxurious cabin or in material possessions if it is not in the heart of the pursuer. Find joy in little things. See the humor in everyday life.

Yes, laugh. Laugh hard because you deserve it.

Short story. My daughter requested some toast the other day. I played tic-tac-toe with the kids while waiting, thinking I would remember to turn off the oven. I forgot. I burned the toast. Feeling so bad, I apologized to my little girl and asked if she can wait for me to make her another one. She insisted that she take a few bites of the burned toast. I did not refuse. After all, I was already feeling bad for burning her food. After eating almost half of the toast, she said, “Mom, this burnt toast is also very good. Maybe you should burn more toast next time.”

I laughed until I cried. Like a hyena, except a hyena probably doesn’t cry and laugh at the same time.

We can laugh at our mistakes. We can laugh at days to come. Laughter is truly the best medicine.

Happy is that people, whose God is the Lord. Psalm 144:15

May you find a LOT of reasons to live, love, and laugh.

Always grateful,
